When it comes to “buzz” in the tech industry, you don’t get much bigger than the Cloud and “Big Data.” Since surveys show a third or more of companies are already working with cloud providers and analysts predict data storage could reach nearly 2.5 zettabytes (that’s 2.5 billion terabytes) this year, that buzz seems to be warranted.
The rapid proliferation of cloud computing and the growth of “Big Data” have a number of companies realizing that their existing wide area network setups that were sufficient for doing business a couple years ago are now creating bottlenecks. In fact, the latency from bandwidth limitations may be undoing any benefits they may have been looking at by consolidating storage either in the cloud or in a centralized network storage system.
Companies looking for a solution to these issues may want to look toward EMC World Las Vegas next week (May 21-24) where EMC Select Partner Silver Peak has announced it would highlight its data center class WAN optimization solutions for the Cloud and Big Data. In addition to making solutions for Big Data and the Cloud the focal point of its exhibit at the show (Booth #521), Silver Peak executives will also offer presentations during the conference on the role of WAN optimization in “big data” and cloud computing Initiatives at the following times and locations:
Since Silver Peak and EMC recently confirmed that the joint Silver Peak and EMC Isilon solution delivered 90x higher data throughput in WAN environments, it looks like this EMC Select partner should be creating “buzz” at the show for those looking to overcome the drawbacks of the Cloud and “Big Data.”
