The 80s are hot again. Even today’s younger generation has an appreciation for 80s music, 80s clothes and 80s style. Personally, I can’t blame them since I’m a product of the 80s. So, when we started to put our heads together to come up with a creative way to help companies realize they can break free from their legacy branch routers, embrace the cloud and reap the benefits of SD-WAN all at once, an 80s theme was a gold mine. Every meeting included a trip down memory lane. Ahh, What a Feeling!
With the accelerating adoption of our SD-WAN solution, Time after Time we’re seeing an increasing trend of enterprises replacing their traditional branch routers with our Unity EdgeConnect.
We’re not the only one who sees this trend either. Gartner has stated publicly that by 2020, more than half of WAN edge infrastructure refreshes will be based on SD-WAN versus traditional routers.
The biggest challenge we have at Silver Peak is raising awareness of our company among senior IT decision makers. I mean, Hello, we have the most complete solution on the market and we believe we’re growing faster than everyone in the industry, but it’s not enough. There are still those who don’t know about us. So, we must turn the industry Upside Down!
I’m so Excited to reveal the most aggressive brand awareness campaign in the history of our company. We have built a fun, targeted and aggressive campaign that includes a video commercial that will serve as the initial cornerstone of our marketing program, as well as a variety of additional online advertising and social media campaigns. The new campaign complements all the technology marketing we’ve done historically with an entertaining approach rarely seen in technology marketing.
The focus of the commercial is the time is now to move beyond the router to the industry’s only full-featured SD-WAN solution, EdgeConnect. The light-hearted campaign underscores how technology has evolved since the 1980’s, except for the branch office router, which remains cumbersome, time consuming and still requires manual programming via an arcane Command Line Interface (CLI).
In the commercial we introduce comedic Silver Peak campaign front man, Wayne McFarkus, who admittedly loves all things 80’s, but has switched to Silver Peak and freed himself from a decades-long router dependency. Now, he’s on a mission to help his fellow IT brethren do the same.
As this market evolves, we want to share with people that branch routers can be replaced by SD-WAN edge devices, provide new levels of automation, improve application performance and lower costs. You need an advanced SD-WAN solution, but you no longer need to depend on a technology that is not designed for a cloud-first world. Enterprises can Fight for their Right to free themselves from router vendor lock in, with the confidence of knowing that Silver Peak has the answer.
