Silver Peak Unity Diagram

An SD-WAN Fabric

Silver Peak today takes a major step forward in transforming the WAN with the unveiling of Unity – a software-defined WAN (SD-WAN) fabric that unifies the enterprise WAN, the Internet and the cloud. (read the press release)

Silver Peak Unity DiagramAs you’ll hear from CEO David Hughes in the video above, Unity is an entirely new approach to wide area networking that moves Silver Peak beyond the WAN optimization-only market.

Unlike traditional WAN optimization solutions, Unity correlates information about cloud services and Internet “weather” to intelligently route traffic over a secure, optimal path. By keeping SaaS and IaaS traffic on the Unity fabric, IT organizations gain an ability they have never had: the ability to monitor and control connectivity to the cloud while ensuring consistent SaaS performance.

Unity builds-on and leverages the unique and proven Silver Peak differentiation developed over the last 10 years and combines that with new advanced WAN routing and cloud intelligence to extend the “any-app” vision to the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) world.

For Silver Peak customers, this means more visibility and control over cloud applications for the IT team, more consistent performance for all cloud users, and a more cost efficient network architecture for the enterprise.

And with a solution this big and disruptive, Silver Peak needed a fresh new identity that reflects our vision and leadership in this new, expanded market. In conjunction with the launch of Unity, we have also introduced the new Silver Peak logo, which is now live on

According to a new market analysis conducted by Doyle Research, the worldwide Intelligent WAN market is expected to reach $3.2 billion by 2018 and is growing at a rate of 20% year-over-year. Compare this to the ~$1.3 billion WAN optimization market that is only growing at about 2% and you have a good indicator of how SaaS is driving new visibility and control requirements for CIOs.

A special thanks to the Silver Peak product teams for the vision and hard work over the last 12 months that have made Unity a reality!
